AVS (AtHome Video Streaming) Server is a software running on Windows XP and Vista, or Mac OS X. It can run on your home computer, to allow you connect remotely from your iPhone or iPod, so that you can access your video files, web cameras and other files.

AVS Server supports connections from AtHome Camera and AtHome Video App on iPhone or iPod Touch.

  • When AVS server starts, it will try to detect all web cameras connected to the computer. Each camera will be displayed in a tab in preview area. If you are going to use the server only for video streaming app AtHome Video, you do not need to plug in a webcam, or you can turn off a built in webcam.

  • For the first time to run the server, you need fill in the server setup information. Later at any time, you can also click on the "Change Settings" button on the bottom to change the settings.

  • In the "Change Settings" dialog, as shown below, you first need to give a name for your server. The name will be sent to your iPhone after connection is established.

  • Then, you need configure your computer and router to allow your iPhone/iPod Touch to connect from outside. If your computer connects to the Internet through a router, AVS server will try to detect the router's external IP address, and set up a port forwarding to direct any request from the Internet to your computer. If your router supports uPnP (Almost all routers do, unless you turn if off), AVS server will automatically finish all those tasks for you, and fill in the detected IP address in the streaming IP field.

  • Based on your need, you can decide to run AVS server only inside your home local network. In this case, the server's local IP address (Something like 192.168.0.100) will be used as streaming IP.

  • For each detected webcam, you need to give a name. You can also turn it on or off.

  • For AtHome Camera App, you need specify a folder to store the recorded video files.

  • For AtHome Video App, you need specify a folder where your movies files are stored.

  • All server status information will be displayed at the left side of the windows:
